Rennie Property was established in Cape Town in 1997 by David Rennie, Nikki Paige (nee Rennie) and Steve Rennie. The business initially traded as David Rennie Management Services. The primary business activities when it was founded were Property Management and general business consulting. Most recently prior to establishing Rennie Property, David Rennie was the managing director of Syfrets Property Finance based in Johannesburg, now Nedbank Property Finance.

In 1999, the property management business division of Rennie Property merged with the property management business division (led by Henry Truter) of the Cape Town based Lyons Property to form a new company.

In late 2009, Rennie Property recognised its need to add property broking (commercial, retail, industrial) to its property management and property consulting services. The broking division commenced business in 2010.

In 2013, Rennie Property launched its web based, real time, Property Market Intelligence ("PMI") data product giving clients access to real time commercial, industrial and retail property information which enables clients to make well informed property decisions.

Rennie Property has offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
