It puzzles us because articles in the paper indicate that not enough people are taking the MyCiti Bus….so to solve this problem they have decided to INCREASE the tariff??

MyCiTi commuters will pay six percent more on all trips from next month.

Those travelling between the civic centre and Table View will pay R10.60 while a trip on feeder service will cost R5.30.

The airport service will now cost R57 for adults and R28.10 for children, while the monthly ticket for the airport service will increase from R424 to R449.50.

Mayoral committee member for transport, roads and stormwater Brett Herron said the hike was part of the city tariff increases levied by the city at the beginning of the financial year.

“We are confident that the increases are reasonable and that the MyCiTi service remains very competitively priced,” said Herron.

The price hike will kick in on July 1.
