The development is currently unfolding on a 15-hectare plot where the anchor tenant will be none other than e-commerce giant Amazon. Adding to the appeal are Devil's Peak and river views.
The plot will consist of two areas, namely:
An aesthetic separation between the two precincts will take the form of a welcoming Eco Park measuring 90 metres in width and 300 metres in length.
Both precincts will be flanked by a landscaped swale on the one side and the rehabilitated Liesbeek Riverine on the other, with the Eco Park forming a corridor between the swale and riverine.
In summary, there will be a total of 60% open space with 6 kilometres of pathways for walking, running and cycling.
As a diverse mixed-use hub, Riverlands Cape Town will encompass retail, office and residential areas as well as a Piazza.
The Heritage Centre will comprise an indigenous garden, eco-trail and amphitheatre.
Part of the development is a new bridge linking M5 to Liesbeek Parkway.
